Meet the Volunteers

Jade Yau

Jade is a volunteer with Enable OT, and she has a strong interest in assisting individuals of all ages to function in their meaningful activities. She is also a volunteer with Residences for Independent Living Society, where she assists in recreational activities for people with disabilities and helps organize activities associated with celebrating Chinese culture.

Jade used to compete in Muay Thai kick boxing, and teaches women's beginner sparring classes. She enjoys other sports such as running, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and aerial hoop. Jade also likes to hike or trail run in Summer, and snowboard or ski in Winter.

Fun fact: Jade enjoys crafting costumes for Halloween and made a giant human-sized Barbie box last year

 

Dani Linde

Dani is a volunteer with Enable OT. Dani is at Western University pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Sciences and Psychology. She is planning to pursue a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.

Dani enjoys many different hobbies. She has been involved in sports such as basketball, skiing and swimming. She used to swim competitively and was a lifeguard in high school. Dani has been involved in many university clubs such as Western Peer Support, intramural sports, and Student orientation leadership. 

Dani enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exercising, baking, and playing with her two mini schnauzers, Murphy and Lucy. Dani also loves travelling, and has been on cruises around Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean! She can’t wait to go hiking in Whistler this summer!

Fun fact: Dani knows how to speak 4 languages (English, French, Spanish and Italian)

 

Alicia Hornby

Alicia is in her fourth year at the University of British Columbia and is studying Biology. She plans to apply to the Master of Occupational Therapy Program once she graduates and hopes to become a pediatric occupational therapist.

Alicia loves working with kids and during the summer, she enjoys working as a camp leader. She also enjoys playing volleyball and has played on a team for over eight years. She currently plays on an intramural volleyball team at UBC.

Alicia also likes to spend time with friends and family, watch Netflix, exercise, and travel. She loves warm weather and wishes she could always be somewhere tropical.

Fun fact: Alicia has a twin sister! 

 
 

Tiffany Lee

While Tiffany is currently a junior at Steveston London Secondary School, she hopes to later pursue her studies at university and become a pediatrician.

Tiffany is active within her community, particularly in her contributions to clubs and organizations. She is currently the president of her school's Literature Club and is the event coordinator for her school’s Women's Empowerment club. Outside of school, Tiffany volunteers for We’re Here as a marketing director and captain-in-training and has participated in various Model UN conferences as a committee or media staff.

Tiffany spends her free time filming and editing videos or learning how to play the guitar. You can also find her discovering new restaurants and cafés with her friends and family. 

Fun fact: One of Tiffany’s favourite activities is making music playlists for every season of the year!

 

Tia Jang


Tia is currently a fourth-year student at the University of British Columbia majoring in Psychology and minoring in Family Studies. Upon graduation, she plans on applying for a Master's in Occupational Therapy. She has a strong interest in working with children and is also currently a volunteer with at a hospital. Here she is able to assist patients in various rehabilitative settings. Tia enjoys working with children as they inspire her to maintain a sense of curiosity and finds that she learns a lot from the kiddos she works with!

Outside of volunteering, school, and work, Tia enjoys being outdoors as much as she can. She loves hiking and backpacking with her sister and friends and has recently started getting into climbing as well!

Fun fact: Riverdale was filmed at the high school Tia attended and she got to meet the whole cast!

Michelle Li

Michelle is a recent graduate from the UBC School of Kinesiology. She is interested in working with kids and is currently a volunteer at Enable OT to explore further interests in Occupational Therapy. In the future, she hopes to apply for her Master’s in Occupational Therapy. Currently, she also works part-time at a pharmacy. She enjoys the fun challenge of working with a wide variety of age and skill groups. 

Michelle is a huge advocate for health and well-being through sports and recreation. It has been a big part of Michelle’s life, to date. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, playing ultimate frisbee, and trying out various different recreational sports. She recently tried pickleball for the first time and loved it! Aside from being active, Michelle likes to bake, particularly cookies and dessert. She also likes painting, and loves painting scenes from Studio Ghibli movies. 

Fun Fact: She has never broken a bone and still has all her wisdom teeth! 

Sophia Jeon

Sophia is a student at Eric Hamber Secondary School, and plans to pursue her studies in psychology, and eventually, a career in the health care field.

Sophia is the president of Best Buddies, and an engaged contributor for school clubs such as Stem Sorority and the Literature club. She is also the Marketing Director for Inspired 2 Uplift and a member of the Youth Council. When she is not volunteering, Sophia enjoys experimenting with new (often chaotic) recipes for her family, trying new food, and meeting new people through video games!

Fun fact: Sophia can do a fabulous impression of Donald Duck.
